One of my favorite examples of film transcending life:

From Parenthood (1989)

Frank Buckman (Grandpa, played by Jason Robards)
l never should have had four.

Gil Buckman (played by Steve Martin) gives a puzzled look.

Frank
You know, when you were two years old,
we thought you had polio.

Frank
You know about that?

Gil
Yeah, Mom once said something.

Frank
Yeah, well,
for a week we didn´t know.

Frank
l hated you for that.

Gil
What?

Frank
l did.

Frank
l did. l hated having
to go through that…

Frank
…caring, the worrying, the pain.

Frank
That´s not for me.

Frank
You know,
it´s not like that all ends…

Frank
when you´re 30 or 40 or 50 or 60.

Frank
lt never…..never ends.

Frank
lt´s like your Aunt Edna´s ass. lt goes
on forever and is just as frightening.

Gil
(laughs) That´s true.

Frank
There is no end zone.

Frank
You never cross the goal line, spike
the ball and do your touchdown dance.

Frank
Never.
