So the little guy had his second visit with the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist this morning. After taking another good look at his ears and throat and running a series of hearing tests the ENT concluded that there was enough fluid in Olie’s ears to cause diminished hearing. What’s more, he diagnosed him with sleep apnea.

So, the little guy is going to have to go under the knife for a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. Of course I was feaful at first…no parent wants to send their precious child into surgery. However, this archive of parents who had similar experiences instantly turned me into a champion of the cause. If what they say holds true for Olie, my little guy will almost immediately start having a higher quality of life. No more snoring, runny noses, mouth breathing, etc. Mom and Dad will be happy, too, when he can finally sleep through the night. Additionally, if he’s getting better sleep at night then the rest of his waking hour development will also improve. Eating more? Potty training? Speech development? Growth spurt? Wow. It’s amazing how these little flowers grow!
